Tintas Silaca

Tintas Silaca is a Portuguese company with over four decades of expertise in the development of paints, coatings, adhesives, and specialized chemical solutions. Founded in 1981, the brand has established a strong reputation across multiple industries. Their work goes from civil construction and automotive refinishing to metalworking and furniture manufacturing. The challenge was to reimagine and modernize a brand with deep industrial roots, translating its technical excellence and innovative drive into a cohesive, future-ready identity system. The goal was to honor its heritage, remain somewhat close to its roots, while positioning it as a contemporary leader in applied chemistry and material technology. I was responsible for the company's rebranding project, eveything, from the logo redesign to the mobile app UI, and everything in between, including the visual system, product packaging and corporate stationery. The result is a unified, technically-driven brand universe that communicates both trust and performance. Concept & Creative Direction: During the creative proccess I focused on concepts that sought to modernize the brandwhile remaining close to its roots so the customers wouldn't find it unrecognizable. The redesign sought to transition Tintas Silaca from a traditional manufacturer whose image hadn't changed since it first started back in the 80's, into a technologically advanced, design-conscious industry brand. A re-imagined, more minimalistic emblem replaced the former illustrative logo while maintaning the original color palette. Packaging Design The new system simplifies and strengthens the brand’s shelf presence with minimalist layouts, color-coded differentiation, and large-scale typography. Each product line now communicates both clarity and modern performance, as seen in the redesigned Silaca paint series. Mobile App UI The interface for the technical and security sheets was designed for clarity and usability, featuring an intuitive hierarchy, strong brand color integration, and direct access to documentation for industrial and construction products. The style is a mix of digital futurism and industrial brutalism. The Tintas Silaca rebrand transformed a traditional chemical manufacturer into a modern industrial design brand, one that stands for innovation, consistency, and technical excellence while preserving the legacy of its forty-year journey.
